Aeronautical Engineering, Four Years Degree Course (A.M.Ae.S.I at par with B.E. / B.Tech.)

The Aeronautical Society of India was established in 1948 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with the support and patronage of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who also become the Society's first Patron-in-Chief. The Society was formally inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at the Puttanna Chetty Town Hall, Bangalore on 27th December, 1948

The Aeronautical Society of India conducts the examination and awards the degree in the AMAeSI examination, which is recognised by the Govt. of India as an equivalent degree in Aeronautical Engineering from an Indian University.

The Objective of the Society is to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of the aeronautical science and aircraft engineering and elevation of aeronautical profession. The Society provides a platform to professionals in the field of Aeronautics, organizes Seminars, Workshops and Conferences to promote aeronautics and bring about greater awareness in this field.

The Government of India recognises a pass in the AMAeSI Examination at Section A and Section B levels for the purpose of recruitments to executive posts and commissioned ranks in the Services in the appropriate fields under the Central Government. Candidates with the AMAeSI qualification are eligible to apply for any job in Aeronautics where B.E. is prescribed as the minimum qualification for the post. They are also eligible to pursue Post Graduate courses. The Engineering Council, London has recognised our examination and those candidates who have completed Sections A & B of the Society examination shall be granted direct entry into Part 2 of their examination.

As there is a great demand for qualified aircraft engineers in India as well as abroad, candidates who successfully complete this course will be able to obtain lucrative jobs in the field of aviation. Minimum marks for exemption (pass) in any subject are 50%.

Job Opportunities

Candidates who successfully complete Aeronautical Engineering Section A & B of Associate Membership examination conducted by the Aeronautical Society of India are treated at par with those holding a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from an Indian University for recruitment to superior posts and services under the Central Government. Students who have completed this course have been successful in the GATE, and completed M. Tech. or have gone for further studies abroad. Those who have successfully completed Section A & B examinations of the Society are occupying responsible posts in H.A.L, Indian Airlines, Air India, Pawan Hans, D.R.D.O., N.A.L., Aeronautical Development Establishment, Civil Aviation Department, ONGC, IAF, Army, Navy, Coast Guard and some more of the reputed organisations and establishments. After completion of AMAeSI Engineering Degree one may appear for M. E. / M. Tech. or Examinations like I. A. S. / I. E. S. / I. A. F. / M. P. S. C. / U. P. S. C. and many more. One may also apply for the posts in State / Central Govt. or Public Sector Organisation where necessary qualification of B. E. / B. Tech. is required.

FULL TIME ENGINEERING PROGRAMME OF IGNOU (Nalanda institute of technology & Management (Ignou Pune Centre code 102)

IGNOU and SAPET have jointly initiated Vertically Integrated Engineering Programme(VIEP) to create a system of education that allows students a greater choice in education. This Programme allow students who have passed the 10th Standard, 12th Standard Examinations and also those who already hold ITI certificates, Diploma, B.Sc., BCS, BCA or equivalent, to pursue a higher qualification starting from Advanced Certificate, Diploma and going up to Bachelor’s Degree in Technology. VIEP initiated by IGNOU and SAPET allows students to enter the stream of technical education upon passing the 10th standard examination. In this programme a student can obtain a diploma in Engineering or a Degree in Engineering or an Advanced Certificate in Engineering from IGNOU and then exit the Programme to join an industry for employment with the option of re-entry at a later point in time for perusing a higher certification/ degree. However, after meeting the requirements for Advanced Certificate, the student will also have the option to continue education without breaking off for employment or otherwise and earn the balance credits for obtaining a Diploma. Further, after meeting the requirements for Diploma, the students may again exercise his option of breaking of or he/ she mat choose to continue technical education towards the goal of obtaining a Degree in Engineering. Also, the student may exercise his option of stream after diploma. In effect, a student may join IGNOU-SAPET Programme after passing the 10th standard examination and remain a part of the Programme continuously for 6 years till the time he/ she gets a Degree in Engineering. This scheme is being promoted under Public Private Partnership Programme between IGNOU and SAPET. The Programmes are being offered on face-to-face/ Full time mode at various IGNOU-SAPET Centres for Engineering Studies
